dani19-issue 73-revised by mm
Issue 73
"In most professions and academic fields, imagination is more important than knowledge."
The human society is blessed in that the human mind is gifted both with a good memory for storing knowledge and also[d1] strong creative thinking(skill) full of (by employing)imagination. Whereas the foundation of most professions and academic fields lay (lie?) on the vast knowledge we have accumulated since ages of old, it is often the seemingly wildest imaginations that innovate the breakthroughs that creates (create) the modern society as we know it.
Therefore, many a time it might seem appropriate to argue that imagination is more important than knowledge to the development of society. Especially so,[d2] considering that sometimes our knowledge actually seems to work against our creativeness― not (many) centuries ago, wasn’t it the top physicists of the time that declaimed(acclaimed) that space traveling was simply impossible? Wasn’t it they who assured us that it would be materially impossible and(可删) unrealizable to send anything out of the Earth’s atmosphere? Yet in the past century we have witnessed Sputnik and its various descendants joyfully orbiting in space; we have also heard Armstrong’s famous words on the moon: “one small step for me, one big step for man.” In the light of this example, it would seem that, without imagination, wouldn’t we be confined in our already acquired knowledge, like prisoners in a cell?[d3] Imagination is indeed the main productive force in most professions and especially the academic fields!
But let’s examine this example further. True, it is wonderful imagination that started the process; but imagination only (alone)does(could)not get a man on the moon. To fulfill the dream,(删去) conjured(up) by our imaginations, we must return to, and rely on our accurate and precise knowledge. In the case of exploring space, we must first calculate and analyze in terms of physics the possibilities and ways of overcoming the Earth’s gravity, not to mention how we intend(devise every possible strategy) to get it back down here(to earth) after its adventure; on the basis of this we then turn to our industrial knowledge to build a prototype; then comes the experimental phase, and if all goes well, we try it out for real. In every phase of this aforementioned process, it is profound knowledge that paves the way.
Therefore we can conclude that imagination and knowledge works in a curious fashion. To tackle a problem, whether industry or academic, various imaginations are first given; they are then analyzed and examined,(by) using our knowledge, to see which of those ideas is (are) feasible (after all, not all of our imaginations are really fruitive and rewarding); after the big(leading) direction has been chosen, it is again our knowledge that we consult (that help to produce)to come up with the detailed blueprint. And often in (deciding and refining) the details we again go through this(the) process of creativeness(creation). Thus it is really unjustifiable to declare between imagination and knowledge, which outweighs which,[d4] and which is “more important”.
[d5] In most professions and academic fields, we do not rely solely on either imagination or knowledge, but rather a combined force of the two, as I have expressed in the last paragraph. Imagination is the force that show(shows) us the direction to a beautiful place; knowledge is what actually gets us there,(as it is) our means of transportation. Therefore, they are of equal importance, and we should both cultivate our imagination and accumulate knowledge if we strive (desire)for success in any profession or academic field.

[d2]Indeed, considering some historical evidence, it seems that …
[d4]to declare either imagination or knowledge outweighs the other, or either one is “more important”
[d5]应该加个总结标志吧
