So here’s me trying out this software, since I have this great loyalty & admiration (or something) towards Google.

And it starts indexing my whole computer… damn I never knew I had that many files…

Hmm… Now it seems I can find all sorts of weird stuff lurking on my hard drive.

Hats off to google, not bad stuff.

Is it just me, or…

Do some girls in Tsinghua really have appalling tastes?

A few years back I was sorry that too few girls wore their beautiful dresses and skirts when the weather was all so lovely. Now I am sorry that we’ve got too much fine weather these days and there are too many mini skirts walking about.

Not that I have a problem with mini skirts and pretty thighs. I am not gay and I like girls with little clothes on just as much as the average adolescent kid you meet. Then why should I complain?

Because there is a certain thing called taste. And apparently some girls nowadays really have terrible tastes. They choose to wear these clothes which I really find it hard to admire. A lot of flesh and yet not a bit sexy. Just bad, bad in a dirty, dirty way.

Ah quit whining, I hear you cry out. I know, I know, I’m being overly critical– but why is it then, in striking contrast, that the pretty girls always seem to know what to wear?

You could say that ppmms are always pretty, regardless of what they wear, or not wear, for that case. But that’s only half the argument. Yes a pretty face do speak more than a thousand mini skirts. But perhaps it has something to do with taste– because of their beauty, they’ve always been more aware of their appearance (as people like looking at them), and thus have generally formed a better understanding of what to wear. Or in short, better taste in dressing.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, only a few people on this little planet are able to be called beautiful. For the ordinary mass public, we seem to be on the same starting line.We can’t change our looks, but we can change how we look. Don’t forget that clothes make the man. And the woman, too, if not more so, if I may add.

So the dear girls who like to wear weird colored skirts which show a lot of flesh (to go with awful looking T-shirts or sweaters and fancy boots), please remember you’re still in Tsinghua. Diversity is good, but not this kind. You look more like a girl from the street than a girl with real intelligence and inner beauty. For your own sake, and for my eyes’ sake too, do change into something more student-like.

Ah I know I am old school. Can’t help it.

Or maybe it is just me…

John Mayer

March 28th, 2005 No comments

Okay I gotta confess I’m no serious fan for music, and for I know I can’t really differentiate genre from genre, but what the heck, I know what I like.

And John Mayer just sounds so beautiful. The first song I ever listened to, “Back to you”, is just so ear-catchy. One of those songs which really doesn’t have a chorus and simply grabs you by its tune.

And then there’s “No such thing”, a song perfect for youngsters who aren’t content with mediocrity. I don’t want an ordinary life. I want to do something incredible. And “No such thing” gives me that kind of urge, “I can’t wait for my ten year reunion, I’m gonna bust down the double doors, and when I stand on these tables before you, you’ll know what all this time was for.” The impulse to live my life to the fullest.

No such thing lyrics, written and performed by John Mayer

Welcome to the real world”, she said to me
Condescendingly
Take a seat
Take your life
Plot it out in black and white
Well I never lived the dreams of the prom kings
And the drama queens
I’d like to think the best of me
Is still hiding
Up my sleeve

They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something’s better
On the other side

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there’s no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you’ve got to rise above

So the good boys and girls take the so called right track
Faded white hats
Grabbing credits
Maybe transfers
They read all the books but they can’t find the answers
And all of our parents
They’re getting older
I wonder if they’ve wished for anything better
While in their memories
Tiny tragedies

They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something’s better
On the other side

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there’s no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you got to rise above

I am invincible(3x)
As long as I’m alive

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there’s no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you’ve got to rise above

I just can’t wait for my 10 year reunion
I’m gonna bust down the double doors
And when I stand on these tables before you
You will know what all this time was for

March 26th, 2005 No comments

The Machinist

March 20th, 2005 No comments

Christian Bale is mad…
He lost 63 pounds to play this role (from 180 to 120), and he is shockingly thin in the film, almost unbearable to watch– some scenes are particularly disturbing where he shows his very unhealthy body.
The plot is all about insomnia and illusions. Distinctively fascinating, yet it does take a bit too long to develop.
Bale’s acting on top of his exterior image is absolutely perfect. Of course whenever an actor makes a great sacrifice in body to play a role we tend to overrate his performance, but suffice it to say that Bale’s acting is enough of a reason to watch this film.
Sometimes the film feels a bit dark and haunting, and I’m not a fan of this type of movies, but still I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to sit down and use his/her head on a film full of false signs and hidden mystery.

March 20th, 2005 2 comments

现在在dani.blogbus.com上开了分基地,已经有两篇中文文字了。

另外dani.blogsome.com也可以。

另外不要忘了我的电影blog: dani.impdb.com

起初他们追杀共产主义者,我不是共产主义者,我不说话;

接着他们追杀犹太人,我不是犹太人,我不说话;

后来他们追杀工会会员,我不是工会会员,我不说话;

此后他们追杀天主教徒,我不是天主教徒,我不说话;
