8.8 Warnings, Deadlines & Parties

The morning was a thrilling ride, in retrospect, due to the fact we had to meet our first deadline. But that was not before we received warnings from the presidents of the committees telling us to be more serious and work harder. I thought they were being a little harsh, but anyway I could understand them.

Then we started writing. I felt I could write faster, so I went ahead and started writing about the business model and strategy. Mika worked on the needs analysis, while Tana was responsible for market analysis.

Time really sped up. It took me until 11 to finish writing about our business, and then I worked on doing a rough financial estimate. I had to do a lot of wild guesses, but the results according to my guesses looked pretty, so we stuffed them into the mid-term report. I submitted it right on the deadline, exactly at 12 o’clock.

The afternoon was slow and lazy. We all shifted into relaxing gear. I chatted online with my friends and did a few more surveys, but that was about all the work I did for the whole afternoon. Then around 6 o’clock we took a stroll to the local supermarket.

There was supposed to be a drinking party at seven, but I still wanted to catch dinner, so I did that.

The party was the highlight of the day. It wasn’t anything crazy or insane. Just a nice, noisy party with soft drinks and beer and snacks to eat. Everybody wanted to take photos. And we celebrated the birthdays of the people who were born in August.

I had a lot of fun talking to Wong Suk, a.k.a. “sucks”, since he’s a funny guy interested in learning sentences for hitting on girls. He would learn it from a Japanese guy, and then try it on the girls, or learn it from a Chinese and do the same. I was laughing my head off.
