Aside from the Terminator trilogy, this is probably one of Arnie’s best action films.
I first saw this film when I was around 10, and needless to say I was scared shitless. What makes this film stand out in its time is its unique feel of action blended with horror, and a sci-fi theme perfectly matched with the jungle background.
The tension of the gunfights in Predator is surreal. The commandos show off their array of arsenal, and the minigun is particularly impressive. Of course, we also get to see a lot of muscules, and Schwarzenegger was definitely at his prime.
The special effects involving the Predator, though nothing eye catchy by today’s standards, still looks quite convincing. The spectucular jungle battles make this one of the most memorable action films I’ve ever seen.
