Shaun of the Dead (2004)
This is a zombie film, and therefore (yet another) a rarity for me. I don’t profess to have understood it entirely; indeed, Shaun of the Dead is quite a complex film, with satire and metaphors hidden here and there. And it being a homage to the great Dead series by George Romero, further hinders my understanding since I have not seen that cult series.
However, the film in itself is quite easy to enjoy. I dislike blood and gore, so there are times that this film really makes me uncomfortable, but the comedy is pleasant to enjoy. The big joke that there is no difference between real zombies and the people alive brings out interesting questions that we should all ask ourselves: what is the purpose of our life? Are we just dragging past each day like zombies?
Perhaps I need to watch more films, to fully appreciate the beauty of something like this.
