MacBook Air: Another fancy toy from Apple
The most talked about announcement from this year’s Stevenote is the release of the MacBook Air, the thinnest notebook at .16 inches – that’s thinner than the iPhone.
Besides the slimness, it also boosts a multi-touch interface (not the whole screen, though, just the mousepad).
And concept-wise, it’s a wireless heavy notebook – you don’t even have an Ethernet port! And of course there’s no DVD drives or anything. Everything is expected to be done over Wi-Fi.
Which, of course, makes this computer more of a fancy gadget toy – akin to the popular Asus EeePC (which is much smaller btw, though thicker) – rather than a serious replacement for business travelers.
Not to say that’s a bad thing – only at the ~$1,799 price tag the MBA is one very expensive toy.
