Piece of great reading for all
Ars Technica today published a new entry in their epic series, A History of the Amiga. It’s great reading especially for techies, but relevant to anyone interested in technology and business. Full of the wisdom of hindsight, the series shows the history of the computer platform that could have been.
Key points of the story (so far, since the series is still ongoing): having the best product (years ahead of competition) doesn’t guarantee you market success – you need competent marketing to push the product and good management to make sure the industrial engine is running smoothly. And you don’t want a series of internal political struggles. It’s a good discussion of the conflict of talented engineers and run-of-the-mill businessmen that manage them.
