Today as I tried to open my website I got a “account suspended” page from my storage provider. At first thinking that it was because of a payment issue (I just paid for this year’s lease last week), I promptly contacted their aftersales.

The reply was a shock, though it was to be expected in retrospect. My account had been suspended due to a post yesterday. It was a simple commentary how social networks in China were being utilized in recent events, but I guess the culprit was a post that I linked to and a line of text that I copied from that source.

I admit I was naive in thinking that by moving off major BSPs in China (Blogbus etc.) I could avoid getting censored. Not that I talk a lot of taboo topics – hmm but this is an interesting experience.
